Summer of 2009

Fri Oct 9, 2009, 7:47 PM
25 June:
- logged into my DeviantArt account for the first time in a year
- decided to lead a journal

...earlier that day...

- Commecement started at 7:00 pm, but I came to school at 1:00 pm to do some volunteer work. Folded pamphlets, handed out graduate gowns, hats, and tassles. Spent a lot of time in the Staff Room with English/ ESL/ Advanced Placement Math teachers. This girl from my math class was there doing volunteer work as well. While waiting for graduates to show up, we talked about the book she was reading, called Snuff. Turned out to be written by Chuck Palahniuk, the author of Fight Club, so we talked about that book too. My crush's sister was graduating so I got to bask in his presence as he stood and watched her 2 m in front of me. My OTHER crush actually graduated, so I finally found an excuse to hug him. I'll miss him in French. I'll just miss him. Oh and Michael Jackson...Here I am handing out graduate stuff and this girl comes in and exclaims: "Micheal Jackson died?!" We all just stopped and stared, but nobody believed her. I only believed it when I got home at 10:00 pm and saw the news. What a heavy loss to the world of art? R.I.P., M.J..

26 June:
-Instrument Inventory Day
- did the ususal routine: count the flutes, mess with sheet music, rape the drums, chill with band nerds

~~~ Random Summer To-Do List ~~~
1. Learn how to draw.
2. Finish sewing those, uh, serviettes?
3. Take driving lessons.
4. Acquire the remaining volunteer hours.
5. Perhaps get a job?
6. Do that biology thing.
7. Draw Marie Antoinette for Madame's request.
8. Get a cat.
9. Hang out with friends.
10. Learn to love Brad Pitt.
11. Swim.
12. Run!
13. Do something outrageous.
14. Figure out my religious beliefs.
15. Improve my GOOD habits.
July 1:
- Went to Andrew's Scenic Acres with Mother and her friend. Used GPS, but still couldn't find the place for 1.5 hours; we're such chicks. ...And I'm being sexist? ...Towards my own sex? Nice. Good thing we didn't give up. Never been on a Canadian farm before - very neat and organized. There was even a little shop and a winery. Thought the trip would be boring, but found it enjoyable. Seeing tractors and horses brought back childhood memories of rural life. Picking strawberries was fun and delicious.
- Happy Birthday, Canada. (No exclamation mark for you.)
Went downtown for the fireworks. According to Father, who's been to many other countries, the fireworks were mediocre. But for someone who's never seen fireworks before, I say they were fucking epic. The atmosphere was pretty "relaxing" too. Me likey. Is it just me or are Canadians a bit lethargic? Seriously, we could have a psychedelic flag and "we be chillin'" instead of "A Mari usque ad Mare". Well...there's already a unicorn on the coat of arms. I can't believe all thousands of us gathered there just to see some pretty colours in the sky. MEDIOCRE, pretty colours. Let's just pretend that we're being reasonable and saving up all that money for a "better" cause. >.> ...Trying to get away with illegal parking was fun; the police people were quite patient. I think I'm starting to love this country. Maybe getting citizenship won't be that bad.
July 6:
- Got myself some sweet running shoes...like the old ones, but new. And cheap. *.*
Around 7th of July:
- Mother thinks I'm socially-retarded. Probably true. Me likey. Mother? Cannot afford to have a socially-retarded offspring. Solution? Fitness club. The woman got me a membership this Saturday. I agreed because I thought I'd get to swim in their awesome pool, but no: those guys are actually serious about "fitness". On Saturday, they tell me that I gotta book a fitness assessment test. So I attend to my appointment on Tuesday (it took some effort to book that shit, man) and have the worst realization of my life: Mother signed me up to socialize with people (which is ok, but they're HEALTH-CONSCIOUS people! AHHHH!). All they do is talk about health. I have a feeling that I'll have to work out in the gym and actually become healthy or else they won't leave me alone. They already told me that I need to put on 20 pounds. I wonder if that would make me stronger...It should, but seriously: I don't wanna change my body. I've been like this forever; scrawny, lanky, and soft. Now I have to go on a "date" with one of the instructor dudes, so that can he show me how to use the weightlifting equipment. Maybe I'll indulge myself in that stuff if I like it...But Mother wants me to do dancing and shit as well. Man...All I wanted was some chlorine in my nose. T.T
- Better late than never. Got a job at Future Shop - customer service. Positive Side: money, experience, sexy manager. Negative side: Mother works there. -.- On the day of the interview, she was giving me a lecture on how I was reluctanct to look presentable, as if I wasn't serious about getting the job. Well of course I was reluctant: YOU work there, woman! So much for your promise to help me find other jobs. Should've just never went for advice and got one without any help. Anyways, the interview was awkward. I just can't talk to people unless I know what I'm talking about. I don't do bullshitting. Ok maybe just on a history test, Mr. Pontrelli...Mwahahahah. Well, the GM was very impressed with my answers regarding stealing (I knew my lack of compassion would benefit me in some way). He thought I was 12 though. Seriously, I even wore make-up. WTF?
- Opened a TD account.
- Decided to read Kidnapped by R. L. Stevenson. Sick book.
- Somehow ended up filling out Passport Renewal forms for Father.
- Citizenship applications are still "in process". *le sigh*
Event: Pool Party
Host: Douce.
Attendants: Stallion, Darth Vader, Unicorn, Wonder Woman, Duck, Katherine of Aragon, Toad, Terrorist, and the Beast. <--- lol code names for my friends, excluding Douce's and including mine: the Beast.
Didn't tell Parents about the "pool" part. Used paper towels instead of actual ones so that they weren't suspicious of the volume of my bag. Father still asked why I needed to take a huge-ass school bag with me. Couldn't fit my swim suit and hair band (to mask the unstraightened pool hair) into the purse. xD Party was cool. Played Guitar Hero thingy for the first time, only like the band edition or something. Attempted to teach Katherine of Aragon how to swim. Unicorn went nuts on Wonder Woman's camera and took semi-pornographic pictures of himself and I. Listened to his Euro dance music while in the pool. Brought back some good memories for me, and others dorked-out to it as well. Left early so that my hair'd be dry by the time I got home.
Thursday, July 9, 2009.
Event: Meeting with Kakashi <--- codename for my biology "sensei"
Attendants: Duck, Wonder Woman, Perfection, Kakashi, and the Beast.
Unicorn and Sexy Lion weren't in the country, so Perfection came alone. Their group's experiment evolves around the idea of regrowing damaged ear cilia and etc.
My group also presented our ideas. Most of my suggestions concerned agriculture and coming up with fungicides or fungi-resistant plants. Duck's suggestion concerned milk, lactose-intolerance, and pasturization. Wonder woman talked about food additives. Kakashi said he'd look around to see if anyone was doing experiments in those fields. Wonder Woman told me the other day that he found a laboratory for us at Guelph University. That's like far. Dunno what's gonna happen with the transport-time-homework situation.
Sunday, July 12, 2009.
Event: Mario's Going-Away Party.
Attendants: Mario, Panda, Some Girl, Toad, Darth Vader, Douce, Stallion, Sax, Terrorist, Wonder Woman, and the Beast.
Damn you, Italy; you claim Mario for now! We decided to meet up for the last time, with him in our group, at Mandarin. All the girls bought him little going-away presents. Wonder Woman and I went shopping just before the party and got him a key holder and a blanket. o.0 And we wrote some "spectacular" stuff on his going-away card as well. Mandarin...We pigged out on food. There were some crab jokes here and there. Darth Vader couldn't stop himself from imitating the committment of sexual acts in every picture we took together.
13 July:
- Got "paperwork'd"
Friday, July 17, 2009.
Event: Movie-seeing.
Attendants: Wonder Woman and I.
Went to see Harry Poter 6. Thought the movie was good. Loved all the special effects, sceneries, and the humour. However, feel like the actual "Half-Blood Prince" part of the plot was missing.
Saturday, July 18, 2009.
Event: CN Tower trip.
Attendants: Family and I.
Yeah...waited for a long time, but eventually got to the Glass Floor. It was neat and all. I enjoyed roaming around the city more though.
19 July:
- first time behind the wheel
24 July:
- first day on the job
27 July:
Happy Birthday, Ulyana. You, bitch. Can you believe it? I remember your fucking birthday. Ew.
7 August:
...Seriously. I was supposed to have my driving lesson at 10:00, so I woke up at 8:00 and just like 10 minutes ago the instructor calls and postpones the lesson to Monday, 10:30.
...I jabbed myself in the eye while trying to separate left-eye, mascara-gooped eyelashes from each other with a needle. The tears washed away the mascara, and since I didn't have the need for it anymore, it was like killing 2 rabbits with one stone. That's a Ukrainian expression; I wonder if it's the same in English. Meh. :\ Good enough.
...8D I'm SO not wearing a top right now. Ah, nothing like being home alone in the morning.
...I'm still debating whether I should go back to sleep or not. I went to sleep at 5:00 am, so being awake right now feels like a Friday after a school week.
...I should probably just sneak out of the house and go to the park and see how many different types of trees I can count. It'd be cool if Grandfather was there to tell me their names in Latin.
...Haven't argued with Mother for a while. Hope to keep it this way since her birthday's on Sunday. And I think we're having a party for her tomorrow, at the restaurant. I wanna get her something. She told me she wanted this cosmetics-related thing I cannot remember. Damn. Maybe I should just ask her.
...In OTHER NEWS: Mr. Wonderful can fly planes now.
...In OTHER, OTHER news: Duck and I met up with Kakashi on July 30. (Wonder Woman's out of the country.) Good ol' M-Dawg (Kakashi = M-Dawg) found us this guy at Guelph that would be a good mentor for us. We have to write him a letter and ask him though. I wrote the letter on Monday and sent it to Duck so she can work her magic on it as well.
11 August:
- Duck edited my letter, and then Kakashi edited our letter, and then Duck sent it to Dr. Griffiths, and he replied saying that he'll meet with us. Kkashi will come back on Friday, so we'll be able to start arranging the meeting.
- Father left for Ukraine today.
Thursday, August 13, 2009.
Event: Wonder Woman's Birthday.
Host: Wonder Woman.
Attendants: Nicole, Toad, Unicorn, Duck, and Beast.
She got back from her little trip into Canada's West and called me, asking if I was free on Thursday. I thought we were just going to hang out, but a few days later it hit me that Thursday was August 13 and that I was actually invited to a birthday party and almost attended without knowing the occasion OR having acquired a present for the host. Idiot. So, that day, I left the house early than needed to make it for the party and went shopping for a gift. I bought her a book holder shaped like this ancient Chinese castle; very pretty. Also got a card that says "Happy Birthday! I'm so happy you were born." My exact thoughts. She took us to Rich Tree, than we went to Chapters and spent like 3 hours discussing books. Fucking nerds. I bought Fight Club.
Was wearing my high-heel sandals that gave me some serious pain and lots of blisters. After getting off the bus, walked home barefoot. I wonder how it looked to people who stopped their cars at the red light and watched me cross the road. o.o Note: also wore a skirt. Yeah - a fucking skirt.
Wednesday, August 19, 2009.
Event: Random Get-Together/ Stallion's Farewell.
Host: Stallion.
Attendants: Douce, Darth Vader, Toad, Duck, Wonder Woman, and Beast.
Stallion was going on this Europe trip the next day, so he wanted to hang out wit us for the last time this summer. Everyone invited actually showed up, even though it was Wednesday and 10:00 am. Went to this place in Square One, called Diner. Very retro. Had some food. Went shopping for Smiley's birthday party. Then I had to leave around 2:00 pm to make it for my driving lesson.
20 August:
- Tornadoes = spectacular shit.
- Power went out twice at work. My computer got messed up 3 times. We had to do things manually and put up with bored customers that chose to stay inside during the storm. On the way home, saw these candles in the middle of the road. Think someone died. Hope not.
Friday, August 21, 2009.
Event: Smiley's Birthday Party.
Host: Smiley.
Attendants: A SHIT LOAD OF GIRLS AND DOUCE!!!
HOLY FUCK! That girl's crazy; she took us to the CN Tower's revolving 360 degree restaurant! I FELT LIKE A CELEBRITY. There was so many of us too. Her parents payed for everything, even the subway tokens. That's ridiculous. The restaurant was so awesome...and the food: MAN! I'll never forget this one. Afterwards, Douce, Duck, Wonder Woman, Toad, and I went to Yorkdale and hung out there.
~~~ On a Random Note ~~~

- Decided to grow my hair.
- Had an earwig in my mouth. Apparently it was inside an apple and the juicemaker thingy managed to squeeze the juice and the earwig out of the apple WITHOUT SHREDDING THE EARWIG APART. Damn those exoskeletons. Good thing I didn't swallow it. Dunno how I would feel about my digestive tract trying to digest an earwig while it was still alive. And how do I know it was alive? Well, after I spit it out on the floor, I kept checking on it for half an hour, and eventually it just got up and started crawling around. And THAT'S when I actually killed it.
- Cactus officially died. Mother threw him out. I cried when I saw the empty pot. I killed yet another living organism. I'm a failure.
- Enjoyed The Upside of Anger. o.0

Thank you.

That's really cool. I didn't know there were people with that name. I just always liked names that start with "z", so when I decided to make a deviantART account "zannia" just kind of strolled into my mind. xD
